Donald Mertrud brings a uniquely versatile 23-year landscape of residential real estate experience to the Phillip Johnson Group/eXp team.
From Donald’s initial exposure in 1996 as an assistant to a Residential real estate mega-producer to growing his own Business by blazing the niche marketing path of maintaining a 40% market share of transactions in an 800 home niche market. His specialty is “Specialty”.
As a multiple Award winning Top Producer for Re/max United Donald’s early focus in historic homes laid the groundwork for his experience developing and facilitating multiple parcel real estate investment packages for buyers and sellers. From purchase to sale for a range of investors led to the creation of Raleigh’s Downtown Real Estate Association (DRA, LLC) Servicing home renovations, property management, and new construction.
Donald has been intimately involved in the comprehensive spectrum of real estate undertakings throughout his career.
With expertise in Historic, Niche, residential and investment market segments, Donald has purchased, developed, subdivided and renovated large and small scale properties, while serving in the roles of, designer, landlord, tenant, broker, buyer, and seller. His in-depth experience lends its hand to fully understanding the unique set of challenges within each real estate transaction, and possessing the strategic foresight to identify immediate solutions to pressing obstacles.
Donald firmly believes his role as a transactional facilitating agent is to ask the right questions and uncover the full scope of a client’s requirements. With this, he can determine which properties and site characteristics will best fulfill those prerequisites then navigate the customer through only the appropriate options. His motto for 20+ years has been, “Choosing the Right Realtor is as important as choosing the right home.”
In 2007 Donald also became the founder/owner of The Raleigh Rickshaw Co. and The Greensboro Rickshaw Co. in 2018. Through his vision, he has driven positive change within the local community through a deep passion for cycling providing substantial carbon offset and connectivity while adding character to the community. He is a member of the Raleigh Regional Association Board of Realtors, North Carolina Association of Realtors (NCAR), and National Association of Realtors (NAR).
