Active Adult 55+ Communities in the Triangle Greater Raleigh area are growing fast because who wouldn’t want to retire in the Triangle? As our community grows we find more older adults moving into the area, often following their children, so we shouldn’t be surprised by seeing large developers like Del Webb and Epcon putting developments in all parts of this region.
I’ve taken the time to research all the communities that are Active Adult 55+ Communities in Raleigh, Durham, Cary, Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Apex, Clayton, Garner, Morrisville, Pittsboro, etc.

Dalton Ridge – North Raleigh – Not a 55 + Community but looks like one! This neighborhood is an All BRICK RANCH home, with high efficiency and lawns kept by HOA. Close to Falls Lake Dam and Greenway System. 400k+ range
Glenlake South – Raleigh Midtown – Glenlake South is a great location close to Crabtree Valley Mall. The neighborhood offers a selection of downstairs master plans townhomes as well as detached homes ranging in the 700k – 1Mil.
Harrington Pointe – Northwest Raleigh – The front part of Harrington Pointe surrounding the pool area has popular ranch plans with others scattered in the community. 300 – 400k’s
Highland Creek – Northeast Raleigh – This large development has many detached ranched homes with lawn maintenance. If you like a mixture of single-family homes this is a good option. Low 300k’s +
Manors at Old Lead Mine – North Raleigh – New construction and development with high-end detached ranch style homes.Great location in North Raleigh! 550 – 700k’s.
Traemoor Village – North Raleigh – Traemoor has single-family luxury homes on large lots, and on the south side of Strickland Rd in Traemoor Village, there are many upscale ranch-style detached homes and also townhomes. If you like the old European look then Traemoor is a great option! 600k’s +
Regency at Brier Creek – North Raleigh/Durham – The is an upscale all ranch Toll Brother community in Brier Creek. Wonderful amenities for the Active Adult! 400 – 700k
Traditions – Wake Forest – New Construction and a wide variety of products. There are plenty of ranch homes in the community. 300 – 800k’s
Hasentree Golf Villas – Wake Forest – Luxury development in an 800 acre+ Audubon Gold Certified Signature Sanctuary and golf course community. Upper 300k’s – 3 million+ in Hasentree – Many Golf Villas are on the Lake or Golf Course, close to driving range and clubhouse. Hasentree golf course and new clubhouse are amazing and feel like resort living! The saltwater pools, clay tennis courts, and Rec area are second to none! There are still new construction opportunities for the Golf Villas and they start in ~400k and up.
Heritage – Wake Forest – Heritage has a couple of sections with mostly ranch homes and/or downstairs masters, with lawn maintenance handled by the HOA. A section in the Landings at Heritage North and a section of Heritage Hills on Sky Hill Place and Groves Field Lane offer ranch homes(some with Basements and on course). Low 300k’s +

The Ranches in Cary – While this neighborhood doesn’t include lawn maintenance since it’s called “The Ranches” it would seem rather odd not to be included in this list. Upper 100 – mid-200k’s
Stonebridge in Cary – Custom detached ranch homes in Cary. Built-in 2010, this neighborhood doesn’t offer lawn maintenance but it would be negligent not to include in this on the list. 300k’s
Kitts Creek in Morrisville – Some new construction and the development has a lot of charm. Close to RTP! 300’s – 400k’s+
Twin Lakes in Morrisville/Cary – Martha Stewart designs with many range home plan. ~350 – 400k’s
